A Journal of a Dad's battle for his family's heart and soul against Big Tech
Where are we going?
I ask that question a lot, actually, when it comes to my own chaotic stream of thoughts, but in this case, I'm talking about tech: Tech and our Society.
I have a 2-year-old son, and when he was born, I had so many ideas about how to introduce computers and tech to him. Two years in, I realize how horribly unprepared I was.
I was unprepared for AI, from the increasing toxicity of social media and the internet, to the economics of content and media. It feels like land mines magically appeared all around me, but in reality, the mines were probably there for decades now.
Which brings me here.
Beyond Tech is a journal to help people who feel the same way.
You can expect articles that will:
- Make sense of tech news that impacts families.
- Explore tech and media trends.
- Share lessons learned from my company and family. (As my wife will allow.)
- Equip parents to make informed decisions about tech and media for their families.
- Equip Small Businesses with tools and knowledge to effectively manage their tech.
I'm a parent, a technical consultant, and a software developer. I've been in the industry my entire professional life, working with large and small businesses.
I'm not writing this newsletter out of an abundance of knowledge of kids. But I do know how the tech and digital media industry works, and I’m learning more and more about my own son.
I'm not writing out of a mastery of business. But I have successfully launched my business and helped start-ups with their IT and tech needs.
I don't claim to have divine knowledge from on high when it comes to parenthood and tech.
However, I do think our leaders, neighbors, friends, and strangers need to sit down together and discuss the digital world we are creating for ourselves.
This journal is part of that conversation.
Welcome to the Beyond Tech Journal.
